Tool set of geologic hatch patterns and map-unit markups for coloring and patterning geologic maps, cross sections, and boring logs, following the FGDC Digital Cartographic Standard for Geologic Map Symbolization (FGDC-STD-013-2006) and its Pattern Chart. This tool set covers 4 categories with 617 tools, available in a standard version (black patterns, the standard's map-unit colors) and a redline version. Each of the 206 hatch patterns comes as two tools: a Polygon markup and an Area measurement markup that reports its area, both with a transparent background so a map-unit color shows through. The pattern density and color can be changed in Properties. The map-unit colors are Polygon markups in the standard's colors, the age labels carry the standard's geologic age symbols with an editable unit letter, and the fossil symbols are vector snapshots that can be moved, resized, rotated, and recolored. Every tool is named after its pattern number or FGDC reference number, so placed markups list and count by name in the Markups List.

How to use

  • Import the profile (Revu > Profiles > Manage Profiles > Import, or double-click the .bpx file), or import single tool sets from the Tool Chest (Manage Tool Sets > Import).
  • Pattern and color tools: click a tool, click around the area, and double-click to finish. Draw the map-unit color first and the pattern over it.
  • Age labels and fossil symbols: click a tool, then click the sheet.
